$150,000 – $220,000 Base + Bonus

The Opportunity

Plona Partners is partnering with a highly regarded AmLaw firm to identify an experienced attorney for a unique Knowledge Management Attorney opportunity based in Chicago.

The firm is investing heavily in the intersection of legal practice, knowledge management, technology, data and artificial intelligence, and is seeking an experienced attorney who can help transform how sophisticated legal work is captured, organized, delivered and scaled. The Knowledge Management Attorney will work directly with attorneys, firm leadership and business professionals, with a particular focus on the firm's Litigation and Labor & Employment practices.

For an attorney who understands sophisticated litigation but is interested in moving beyond the traditional billable-hour career path, this represents an opportunity to remain deeply connected to the practice of law while building expertise in one of the fastest-evolving areas of the legal industry. This individual will help develop the infrastructure attorneys use to work smarter, faster and more consistently across matters.

Responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining model documents, templates, checklists, drafting guidance, precedents and practice-specific resources
• Building stronger systems for capturing and accessing high-value attorney work product
• Improving document organization, metadata, naming conventions and precedent collections
• Creating workflows that increase efficiency across common Litigation and Labor & Employment matters
• Partnering with attorneys to identify where knowledge, technology and automation can improve legal service delivery
• Working cross-functionally with IT, Business Intelligence, Information Governance and Training teams
• Supporting the implementation and adoption of legal AI and emerging technology
• Evaluating new legal technology and knowledge-management platforms
• Participating in technology pilots, testing and quality-assurance initiatives
• Monitoring developments in AI and their potential applications and limitations within sophisticated legal environments
• Developing knowledge-sharing initiatives across practice groups
• Using data and reporting to identify trends, opportunities and practice-area insights
• Helping attorneys understand and adopt new KM resources, technologies and best practices

Rather than stepping completely outside of BigLaw, the successful candidate can leverage years of substantive legal experience to influence how lawyers practice, how institutional knowledge is preserved and how emerging technology is deployed across sophisticated matters. You'll have visibility across attorneys, firm leadership and key operational functions while helping shape the next generation of legal service delivery.

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Juris Doctor (JD) required
• 5+ years of substantive legal practice experience
• Strong Litigation experience required
• Labor & Employment exposure strongly valued
• Law firm experience preferred
• Exceptional legal drafting, writing and analytical skills
• Strong understanding of sophisticated legal workflows and attorney work product
• Interest in legal technology, innovation, AI and knowledge management
• Strong project-management and organizational capabilities
• Ability to analyze information and translate attorney needs into scalable resources and solutions
• Comfort collaborating with attorneys, technology professionals and business-services leadership
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a sophisticated, deadline-driven environment
• Experience with or exposure to iManage, Microsoft Copilot, legal AI platforms and modern document-management environments is highly valuable.
