Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Knowledge Management Leader for a Washington, DC area role focusing on law firm KM, research, and practice support. You will organize content, promote technology, and develop training and thought leadership while aligning KM initiatives with firm strategy.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum five (5) years of law firm KM/innovation experience.
  • Deep expertise in workflows and day-to-day needs of attorneys in real estate, construction, multifamily housing, and public finance.
  • Experience in knowledge management, legal research, and practice support.
  • Experience using knowledge management tools and technologies, including databases, intranets, portals, search engines, and document management systems.
  • Experience with legal technology, project management, and business planning.
  • Proficiency in legal research databases and knowledge management platforms.
  • Ability to develop, test, and deliver technology-driven tools and client-facing solutions.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and develop content and knowledge resources for assigned practice areas.
  • Implement and promote relevant technology.
  • Prepare and present training materials.
  • Manage and draft internal and external thought leadership content.
  • Develop and implement knowledge management solutions aligned with firm strategic objectives.
  • Serve as embedded practice group KM expert and liaison.
  • Curate knowledge artifacts in KM databases and libraries.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and assess knowledge management strategies and systems.
  • Create, organize, and maintain model documents, forms, precedents, guidance, and practice resources.
  • Capture user feedback to improve KM tools and processes, including DMS and intranet.
  • Review legal, market, and practical materials; track trends and developments.
  • Identify knowledge base gaps and curate attorney contributions.
  • Plan and execute KM innovation projects, measure ROI, and report progress.
  • Evaluate and implement technologies that enhance KM and practice support.
  • Champion technology adoption and organizational change.
  • Identify knowledge and training needs with KM, AI, and Practice Management teams.
  • Support lateral onboarding and assess incoming knowledge content.
  • Conduct knowledge succession planning interviews and document processes and negotiation strategies.
  • Partner with Administrative Departments on firm-wide KM initiatives.
  • Develop training materials, reference guides, and online resources.
  • Facilitate demonstrations, pilots, and success-story sharing.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of firm, attorney, and client information.
