Responsibilities

  • Use engineering drawings, specifications, and QA standards to produce conforming products.
  • Mix and apply primers, polyurethane, and epoxy paints with accurate ratios and viscosities.
  • Maintain and clean paint-related equipment, including spray booths.
  • Read and comply with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals in paint departments.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste properly.
  • Cross-train with Knobs Molding, Etching, and Optics departments.
  • Communicate with masking/prep, touch-up teams and production lead about status and cure times.
  • Perform surface prep, masking, de-masking, brush touch-up, HLVP spray painting, color matching, and accelerated cure management.
  • Operate photometric equipment in the Optics Department and adjust light output as required.
  • Follow all Korry safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.

Job description

What You Will Do:

Our painters create finished goods which may include multiple applications or colors of paint on components, assemblies, or fabricated parts. These roles include masking to meet our customer drawing requirements. This position requires good time management but also great communication skills to coordinate with inspection and other production teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Use engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing processes and quality assurance standards to produce conforming product.
  • Mix and apply primers, polyurethane and/or epoxy paints using tools such as scales and zahn cups to ensure accuracy in mix ratio or viscosity.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance and daily upkeep for all paint-related equipment, including the spray booth.
  • Responsible for reading and understanding the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals owned by the Paint departments.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste in an appropriate manner.
  • Cross-training with partnered work centers, including, but not limited to, Knobs Molding, the Etching Department or the Optics Department.
  • Regular communication with the masking/prep team, touch-up team and production lead on job status, estimated completion times and relevant cure times.
  • Regularly perform moderate-to-complex tasks including surface preparation, masking, de-masking, brush-based touch-up, paint application with an HLVP spray gun, in-process color match/light transmission inspections and accelerated paint cure management.
  • Optics Department-specific requirements include the ability to operate photometric equipment proficiently and adjust light output to meet customer or internal specifications.
  • Follow all Korry safety, quality and manufacturing processes or procedures.
Preferred Education
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience
Preferred Experience
  • 1-3 years' related painting experience
Preferred Specialized Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to follow careful directions, verbally, in writing and from schematics and blueprints.

Physical Requirements:
  • Moderate use of personal computers, database and digital platforms, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and computer printers.
  • Frequently uses hands, fingers, and arms to reach, handle, touch or feel equipment, materials, and computer.
  • Frequent close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Lift, carry, push and or pull 1-30 lbs as needed
  • Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day
  • Wear appropriate PPE (respirators, safety glasses, gloves, smocks) as required by work activities.
  • Work in a fast-paced industrial environment
Salary Range:

Please note the typical hiring range is $22.88 - $30.96 Hourly. Job offers within the range are based on significant job qualifications and pay equity.
