Job summary

rag & bone is seeking an experienced and hands-on Manager of Product Development and Production for cut and sew knits to oversee product creation across Men's and Women's categories. You will manage development from concept through production, partnering with Design, Merchandising, and global vendors to source fabrics, washes, and trims that meet margin, quality, and timeline targets.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience in product development and production for cut & sew knits.
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Engineering, or Product Development.
• Strong understanding of knit yarns, fabrics, garment construction, trims, and wash development.
• Working knowledge of global sourcing; experience with Asia and Latin America preferred.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, PowerPoint; PLM and ERP experience a plus.
• Ability to travel to vendors, trade shows, and factories as needed.
• Hands-on approach and entrepreneurial mindset are crucial to success.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development for Men's and Women's knits—sourcing, sampling, costing, and counter-sourcing—while maintaining consistency and quality.
• Partner with R&D managers, mills, and factories to develop raw materials aligned with costing and sourcing strategy.
• Track development timelines to ensure on-time delivery within costing strategy.
• Manage pricing and costing from proto through production, updating charts as designs evolve.
• Coordinate daily with global suppliers and overseas offices on expectations, requirements, status, and issues.
• Support day-to-day workload and maintain cross-functional relationships with Design, Merchandising, and Tech Design.
• Build and maintain development calendars and factory/vendor charts for clean, on-time handoffs to production.
• Mentor and guide junior associates on development tasks.
• Manage bulk production end-to-end for men's and women's knits, ensuring quality and cost targets.
• Own production calendars—yarn and color approvals, protos, SMS, testing and bulk delivery.
• Partner with factories and overseas offices to monitor status and resolve delays or quality issues.
• Review and approve bulk submissions with Fabric, Design and Tech teams.
• Ensure PO accuracy across systems (style, color, quantity, pricing).
• Coordinate logistics for shipment bookings and delivery windows.
• Support pre-production meetings with factories on construction, quality standards, and timelines.
• Monitor bulk QC and lab test results and resolve issues with Technical Design and QA.
• Manage bulk costing reconciliation and flag price variances against confirmed costs.
• Maintain costing in ERP systems throughout development and production.
• Present costing at development and production milestones.
• Identify and troubleshoot costing challenges with Design and Merchandising.
• Support cost negotiations at the style level with vendors.
