HomeState is a Texas Kitchen in California sharing breakfast tacos, queso, brisket, house-made flour tortillas, and genuine hospitality. Founded in 2013 by Briana “Breezy” Valdez in Los Angeles, our mission is to share her Texas identity through food and hospitality.

We are currently hiring for the position of Kitchen Team Member (Line Cook).

The Kitchen Team Member reports to the Kitchen Manager or Assistant General Manager and embraces our vision of nurturing our communities within and beyond our walls. A successful team member provides guests with an exceptional experience by adhering to HomeState’s standards of service, quality, and cleanliness. We foster an environment of respect and dignity for all.

Base wage is projected to be $17.00 per hour. With tip share, earnings are estimated to be $22-$25 per hour.*

• Ability to remain stationary for long periods (6+ hours per shift, excluding breaks).
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to bend and reach overhead frequently.
• Ability to use utensils and grip kitchen equipment.
• Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures from hot to cold.
• Ability to work near open flames, hot equipment, and steam.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions with utensils and equipment.
• Ability to work in tight spaces such as dish stations.
• Ability to recognize, perceive, and communicate directions and spatial cues.
• Ability to sit, squat, and kneel occasionally.
• Ability to move around the restaurant carrying items.
