Bethel-Church-of-Redding is seeking a 24-hour-per-week Kitchen Team Lead to supervise the Bethel Kitchen team and oversee the school lunch program. You will manage schedules, timesheets, administration, and team communication, reporting to the Operations Director with a focus on excellence, stewardship, teamwork, joy, and hospitality.

The role requires coordinating across ministries, ensuring food safety, inventory, and budgeting support, while fostering a healthy team culture and high-quality

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Kitchen Team Lead supervises and coordinates the Bethel Kitchen team, helping each employee succeed in their distinct area of responsibility. This role manages team schedules, timesheet approvals, administration, and communication while directly leading the Bethel Christian School lunch program. Working closely with the Operations Director, the Team Lead ensures the kitchen serves Bethel with excellence, stewardship, teamwork, joy, and hospitality.

Hours: 24 hours per week

Compensation: $18.40 per hour

Job Requirements

• Supervising kitchen employees, providing regular feedback, coaching, and accountability.
• Managing staff schedules, time‑off coordination, coverage, and approving employee timesheets.
• Leading weekly kitchen meetings, communicating priorities, and coordinating work across the team.
• Leading BCS lunch planning and service, with support from other team members.
• Coordinating kitchen requests and communicating with ministries, departments, and the Operations Director.
• Overseeing kitchen administration, receipts, and invoices, while sharing responsibility for budget tracking with their supervisor.
• Ensuring clear processes for ordering, inventory, food safety, and cleanliness while empowering designated team owners.
• Supporting team members who lead Hebrews production, catering, Activation, desserts, and kitchen upkeep.
• Monitoring service quality, workload, and capacity, especially around conferences and events.
• Building a healthy, collaborative team culture marked by ownership, excellence, honor, and joy.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of this position (see attached)

• Strong organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to supervise employees with clarity, care, accountability, and sound judgment.
• Experience in kitchen operations, food service, administration, or team coordination.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and deadlines.
• Comfortable with timekeeping systems, basic financial administration, and digital tools.
• Food handler certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of appointment.
• Ability to work safely in a commercial kitchen and support practical food preparation as needed.
• Ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supervising or coordinating staff and volunteers.
• Experience with school lunch programs, catering, or food production.
• Experience with budgeting, purchasing, inventory, and vendor coordination.
• Familiarity with Bethel Church’s ministries, culture, and hospitality.
