Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Elkhart, IN is seeking a Dishwasher / Kitchen Support to assist with food preparation, dishwashing, kitchen sanitation, and dining room support for residents and guests.

Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods in a busy kitchen environment; teamwork and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Good organizational skills and the ability to work well with others as part of a team.
• Must be able to work under close supervision.
• Possess basic knowledge of kitchen operations and use of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to understand and retain simple instructions and apply them to the position.
• Must be able to stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to tolerate temperature extremes, wet/humid conditions, and noise.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and carry heavy objects for up to 20 feet.
• Must wear slip-resistant footwear.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items as requested.
• Portion and plate salads and desserts.
• Assist with cleaning the kitchen, including floors and kitchen equipment.
• Set up and run the dishwashing operation, keeping the dishwasher clean and free of debris.
• Clean pots and pans as needed.
• Check water temperatures and maintain sanitation equipment.
• Take out all garbage.
• Assist with dining room service as needed, including pouring beverages.
• Replace paper towels and clean hand sinks.
• Stock food on shelves and in the refrigerator.
• Report problems in the kitchen or dining room to the supervisor.
• Attend all required in-services and staff meetings.
• Provide superior customer service to residents and guests.
