A leading company in Lexington is seeking a Dietary Manager to oversee food preparation and service. The role involves supervising staff, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and managing dietary needs of residents. Description
Direct and participate in food preparation and service, ensuring food is safe, appetizing, and meets residents' needs according to physicians' orders and approved menus. Maintain cost control and work within budget guidelines. Plan and assist in preparing and serving holiday and special meals and functions. Supervise all dietary functions and personnel, including hiring, orientation, training, discipline, and termination when appropriate.
Ensure proper storage of food and supplies, complying with current state and federal guidelines. Process new diet orders and changes from nursing staff, updating diet cards accordingly. Maintain sufficient staffing levels for dietary services and assess residents' food preferences and allergies. Prepare staff schedules and manage schedule adjustments.
Keep the kitchen and food storage areas safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary. Transmit orders for food and supplies, document menu changes, and notify the Dietitian. Participate in QA and IDT meetings as assigned. Check trays for accuracy before delivery and regularly inspect the Dietary Department for safety and sanitation.
Plan and present in-service education programs for dietary staff. Address on-the-job injuries by investigating and implementing corrective actions or retraining employees. Ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain the security of the Dietary Department and coordinate dietary services with nursing and activities departments.
Complete monthly nutritional notes for residents at nutritional risk, conduct resident visits for nutritional assessment and screening, explain diets, record food preferences, and promote quality food service.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Assist in supervising and managing dietary staff.

Physical Demands: Standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling frequently; lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional climbing, kneeling, crouching; visual acuity for close and distant perception.
