Job summary

Coury Hospitality in Wichita, KS is seeking a dependable steward/dishwasher to join our kitchen team. You will maintain clean dishes, cookware, and workstations, assist in sanitation, and support culinary staff during busy meal periods.

The role requires standing for long durations, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and the willingness to work flexible hours including weekends. Prior hospitality experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous stewarding, dishwashing, restaurant, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper chemical handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to safely operate commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning tools.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, sanitized dishes, cookware, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment to support efficient culinary operations.
• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely while ensuring all items meet cleanliness and sanitation standards.
• Clean kitchen floors, walls, floor mats, drains, workstations, storage areas, loading docks, and back-of-house spaces throughout each shift.
• Remove trash, recycling, food waste, and grease while maintaining clean and organized waste disposal areas.
• Keep walk-in refrigerators, freezers, storage rooms, and receiving areas clean, organized, and guest-ready.
• Support Culinary team members by maintaining an adequate supply of clean dishes, cookware, and service equipment during busy meal periods.
• Safely handling cleaning chemicals, sanitation products, and commercial cleaning equipment according to established procedures.
• Monitor dishwashing equipment and report maintenance concerns or equipment issues promptly.
• Work collaboratively with Culinary and Food & Beverage team members to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and environmental standards throughout every shift.
• Take pride in creating a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment where teammates can perform at their best.
