Job summary

Grand Sierra Resort Corporation seeks a Kitchen Steward to maintain cleanliness across kitchen, dining, and restroom areas. The role requires knowledge of OSHA standards, precise cleaning with designated chemicals, and the ability to operate dish and floor equipment.

You will stock supplies, report maintenance issues, and work flexible shifts including nights and weekends. Minimum age 18, one year of janitorial kitchen/restaurant experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Proficiency in following instructions with attention to detail.
• Ability to influence others and make independent judgments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness of kitchens.
• Sanitize stoves/ovens, grills, hoods, steam tables, dishwashing machines, walls floors, etc. in kitchen, dining and restroom areas.
• Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items according to OSHA regulations.
• Change oil in deep fryer. Clean fryer and replace oil.
• Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform duties assigned to the stewarding department.
• Operate and maintain dish machines, glass machines, floor scrubbers and burnishing machines.
• Clean floors, mats and drains for sanitary reasons using mops, brooms, scrapers, scrubbers and chemicals.
• Remove dirty dishes from cooks’ line and take to dish room for cleaning and re-stock cooks line with clean dishes.
• Report on all maintenance issues. Inform supervisors if equipment is faulty or broken.
• Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.
