Delicato Family Wines in Napa, CA is seeking a Kitchen Steward to maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and surrounding areas, assisting the Chef and Sous Chef to uphold food safety standards.

Duties include dishwashing, waste management, stocking supplies, assisting with basic food prep, harvesting from the culinary garden, deep cleaning, serving food when needed, and ensuring a safe, well-stocked kitchen.

Qualifications

  • Basic English speaking and reading skills required.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and precautionary procedures for chemicals, detergents, and sanitizers.
  • Ability to differentiate the proper application of tools and/or chemicals to all equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Chef in food prep such as slicing, portioning, plating, some cooking, and other kitchen tasks as needed.
  • Assists with daily operations and event preparations, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Assists with receiving food orders and organizing products.
  • Assists in harvesting, cleaning, and storing items from the culinary garden.
  • Executes deep cleaning projects of the winery spaces as directed by the Chef.
  • Serves food as needed.
  • Maintains the trash program by taking out trash and cleaning receptacles.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Kitchen Steward - Black Stallion Estate Winery

Work Location: Black Stallion Estate Winery

Position Purpose: The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and surrounding areas. This role ensures that all kitchen equipment, utensils, and cookware are properly cleaned and sanitized, and assists in the overall upkeep of the kitchen environment. Stewards are also responsible for handling dishwashing, waste management, and storing kitchen supplies. The Steward works closely with the Chef and Sous Chef to adhere to food safety and hygiene standards. The role may also involve some basic food prep duties and ensuring that the kitchen is fully stocked with necessary supplies.

Essential Duties

  • Assists with receiving food orders and organizing products
  • Assists in harvesting, cleaning, and storing any items from the culinary garden

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior kitchen experience preferred
Certificates and Licenses
  • Current Food Handler Card
  • TIPS Certification or Certified within 90 days of employment
  • Must be 21 years of age.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic English speaking and reading skills desired
  • Knowledge of safe food handling, preparation procedures, and precautionary procedures of chemicals, detergents, and sanitizers
  • Ability to differentiate the proper application of tools and/or chemicals to all equipment

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
