Job summary

Avion Hospitality is seeking a Steward to maintain cleanliness and proper storage of china, glass, and silver, ensuring top sanitation standards. The role supports kitchen staff and assists with food storage and rotation.

Responsibilities include operating dishwashing equipment, storing items securely, and maintaining cleanliness across the back dock and dumpster areas. A high school diploma and composure under pressure are preferred for this on-site position.

Qualifications

• Ability to stay composed and objective in pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Operate dish-washing equipment to thoroughly clean china, glass and silver; maintain sanitation.
• Replace cleaned china, glass and silver in proper storage locations to minimize breakage.
• Wash pots, pans and kitchen utensils and store them properly after cleaning.
• Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and restaurant areas.
• Empty garbage from Food and Beverage areas into the hotel dumpster.
• Keep back dock and dumpster area clean and orderly.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Job Summary

A Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper storage of all china, glass and silver, and ensuring the highest standards of sanitation. He/she is also responsible for assisting the kitchen staff in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and all storage areas; specifically for cleaning all equipment, utensils, and the physical work area. He/she is also responsible for assisting with proper food storage and rotation.

Education & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
• Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
• Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
• Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

Job Duties & Functions

• Maintain friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
• Operate the dish-washing equipment to ensure that all china, glass and silver are cleaned thoroughly and sanitation of such is maintained.
• Replace all clean china; glass and silver in its proper storage location using care to minimize breakage.
• Wash pots, pans and kitchen utensils following proper procedure for their cleanliness andsanitation, storing them in the proper location.
• Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and restaurant
• Empty garbage from Food and Beverage areas into the hotel dumpster.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the back dock and dumpster area.
• Perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
