Job summary

Hyatt in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Steward to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of china, glass, and silver, and assist kitchen staff with storage and food safety. The role requires a focus on proper storage, rotation, and maintaining high sanitation levels.

Responsibilities include operating the dishwashing equipment, replacing items in storage, washing pots and utensils, and keeping kitchen and back dock areas tidy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; hotel experience preferred.

• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness to hotel standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate dish-washing equipment and ensure sanitation of china, glass and silver.
• Replace cleaned china, glass and silver in proper storage to minimize breakage.
• Wash pots, pans and utensils following proper sanitation procedures.
• Sweep and mop floors in kitchen and restaurant areas.
• Empty garbage from Food and Beverage areas into the hotel dumpster.
• Maintain cleanliness of back dock and dumpster area.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager.
• Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.

Description

A Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper storage of all china, glass and silver, and ensuring the highest standards of sanitation. He/she is also responsible for assisting the kitchen staff in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and all storage areas; specifically for cleaning all equipment, utensils, and the physical work area. He/she is also responsible for assisting with proper food storage and rotation.

Education & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
• Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
• Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
• Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

• Replace all clean china; glass and silver in its proper storage location using care to minimize breakage.
• Wash pots, pans and kitchen utensils following proper procedure for their cleanliness and sanitation, storing them in the proper location.
