Position Summary
Prepare breakfast and/or lunch offerings and assist with serving lines. Participate in occasional catering functions. Perform all positions within the kitchen.

Functions of the Job
Essential Functions Production
- Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at the required temperature. Stock milk coolers and prepare for service.
- Assist in food preparation according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes. Plan and prep for the next day's menus.
- Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification.
- Maintain neat, clean, and organized work areas.
- Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment and dishes.
- Organize inventory stock and practice FIFO procedures. Keep coolers/storage racks clean.
- Clean and monitor chemical usage, maintain dishwashing equipment, and store clean dishes appropriately.
- Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
- Prepare baked goods like bread, cakes, and cookies, and present them appealingly.
- Batch cook to ensure quality and presentation.
- Set up serving/bar lines, ensure food is at proper temperatures, and restock as needed.
- Serve food with proper sizes and utensils, ensuring quality presentation and hospitality.
- Keep serving lines and condiments stocked with food, napkins, silverware, and dishes.
Compliance
- Follow menu plans and recipes precisely.
- Use standardized recipes for consistent quality.
- Recognize reimbursable meals and adhere to Meal Pattern regulations.
- Maintain accurate production records.
- Follow HACCP food safety procedures and record temperatures.
- Obey safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and participate in safety programs.
- Attend meetings, complete training hours, and promote Opaa!’s Core Values.
- Comply with timekeeping policies.
Administrative
- Handle customer payments, operate POS systems, and ensure only reimbursable meals are processed.
- Complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliation daily.
- Record work hours accurately.
- Notify supervisors in advance of shift absences and handle other duties as assigned.
Physical/Visual Activities
- Frequently stand, walk, sit, squat, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, grasp, feel, taste, smell, talk, hear, and reach.
- Occasionally lift over 60 pounds and frequently lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
- Require visual focus, depth perception, color vision, and attention.
Working Conditions
- Work indoors and outdoors.
- Be exposed to moving parts, humid conditions, heat, chemicals, and noise.
Position Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred; or up to one month of related experience or training.
Skills
Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and apply common sense to instructions. Familiarity with kitchen equipment and safety procedures.
