Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a shift lead in food services to oversee kitchen operations, meal prep, and delivery of nutritious meals to facilities. You will assist the food service manager in managing production, inventories, and sanitation standards while supervising staff and inmate labor.

You will ensure compliance with state dietary guidelines and USDA standards, train new employees, and help maintain accurate production records.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• Knowledge of receiving, storage and service of food products.
• Ability to teach food preparation and cooking.
• Plan, assign and supervise food service work; maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, instruct and train staff on nutritionally balanced meals.
• Monitor productivity and ensure safety and sanitation.
• Oversee proper use of kitchen equipment and storage.
• Prepare production and inventory reports weekly.
• Inspect kitchen areas and address maintenance issues promptly.
• Supervise inmates and staff to meet meal requirements.
