Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a Food Service Supervisor to interview, hire, evaluate and terminate inmate food service staff, and to train cooks, bakers, and dining room personnel in all aspects of their duties.

You will ensure compliance with health, fire and OSHA inspections, supervise daily cafeteria operations, prepare cook’s worksheets, and coordinate with the inmate representative committee to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Experience in quantity and quality cooking required.
• Must be certified as a ServSafe Manager or must attain certification within six months of employment.
• Must be certified by South Carolina department of corrections training academy or must successfully complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Must successfully complete basic supervisory courses within eighteen months of employment.
• Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees in duties for kitchen and dining roles.
• Supervises all personnel in the performance of their daily duties.
• Maintains internal security of the cafeteria and collaborates with inmate representatives to resolve issues.
• Ensures accurate preparation of all food orders and deliveries on a weekly basis.
• Meets with health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Oversees maintenance/repair work on cafeteria equipment.
