Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate.
• Experience: Four years of sub professional or professional experience in a food service operation.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the preparation of food and provides general cooking in a Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) facility.
• Prepares food and provides general cooking. Prepares menus, consults with nutritionist and other professional contacts.
• Maintains records of amount of food served and number served.
• Prepares all forms for federal school lunch program.
• Maintains records for government commodities received and used and provides forms to the Department of Agriculture.
• Provides instructional kitchen skills to juveniles assigned to kitchen duties.
• Ensures proper supervision of juveniles.
• Prepares food requisitions and maintains food inventories.
• Maintains logs and inventory books on received and used foods and supplies.
• Maintains routine records for daily costs of meals.
• Maintains and reports attendance on juveniles for federal programs.
• Ensures new food items are received, checked, dated and stored properly.
