Job summary

Red Rabbit in NYC is seeking a Porter to join a 4-6 person kitchen team responsible for meeting Department of Health standards and keeping equipment in working order for daily kitchen operations.

The role requires 1+ years in a high-volume kitchen, reliability, and a can-do attitude. Typical hours are 6:00AM - 2:00PM, Monday to Friday, with compensation of $17.00 - $19.00 per hour, in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of work experience in a restaurant, hotel or commissary kitchen.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and procedures, safety and sanitation regulations.
• High School Graduate or equivalent relevant preferred.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move from area to area in the kitchen.
• Must be reliable, function well within a team, and work calmly and efficiently in a fast moving environment.
• Must operate proactively and with a sense of urgency and have attention to detail.
• Must have a great attitude who contributes to a positive working environment.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Responsibilities

• Properly clean all areas of the kitchen to ensure that Red Rabbit is exceeding DOH standards. This includes countertops, cooking equipment, walk‑in refrigerators, floors, hand sinks, dishes and storage areas.
• Remove trash, cardboard, and compost in a timely manner making sure the kitchen is clean and free from debris for food preparation
• Proactively work to ensure the kitchen team is set‑up for meal production each day
• Support with line prep
• Other duties as assigned
