Job summary

Red Rabbit, LLC in Washington, DC is seeking a Porter for full-time shifts in a high-volume school kitchen. You will work on a 4-6 person team to support meal production, ensure cleanliness, and help the kitchen meet DOH standards.

Typical hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with compensation of $18.50–$19.00 per hour. The role emphasizes reliability, teamwork and a proactive, can-do attitude.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of work experience in a restaurant, hotel or commissary kitchen
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and procedures, safety and sanitation regulations
• High School Graduate or equivalent relevant preferred
• Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move from area to area in the kitchen
• Must be reliable, function well within a team, and work calmly and efficiently in a fast moving environment.
• Must operate proactively and with a sense of urgency and have attention to detail
• Must have a great attitude who contributes to a positive working environment
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Responsibilities

• Properly clean all areas of the kitchen to ensure that Red Rabbit is exceeding DOH standards. This includes countertops, cooking equipment, walk-in refrigerators, floors, hand sinks, dishes and storage areas.
• Remove trash, cardboard, and compost in a timely manner making sure the kitchen is clean and free from debris for food preparation
• Proactively work to ensure the kitchen team is set-up for meal production each day
