Responsibilities

• Pizza Preparation: Prepare dough, sauces, cheeses, meats, vegetables, and toppings according to recipes and portions.
• Pizza Production: Assemble, bake, and finish pizzas with consistent quality and size.
• Product Packaging and Merchandising: Package, label, price, and display pizzas for retail sale.
• Freshness and Quality Control: Monitor quality, freshness, and holding times; remove non-conforming items.
• Food Safety: Follow proper handling, sanitation, and storage procedures per policies and regulations.
• Inventory Management: Monitor ingredients, rotate stock using FIFO, assist with counts.
• Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain clean workstations, ovens, tables, utensils, and storage areas.
• Customer Service: Answer questions and assist customers with requests in a friendly manner.
• Waste Control: Minimize waste by production planning and monitoring movement.
• Department Maintenance: Keep displays and work areas organized and appealing.

The Pizza Maker is responsible for preparing, assembling, baking, packaging, and merchandising pizzas for sale in the grocery store’s prepared foods or deli department. This position ensures that all pizzas are made according to company recipes and quality standards while maintaining freshness, proper food handling, cleanliness, and excellent customer service. The Pizza Maker supports daily department operations by keeping products stocked, displays attractive, and work areas clean and organized.Key ResponsibilitiesPizza Preparation: Prepare pizza dough, sauces, cheeses, meats, vegetables, and other toppings according to established recipes and portion guidelines.Pizza Production: Assemble, bake, and finish pizzas while maintaining consistent quality, appearance, taste, and portion sizes.Product Packaging and Merchandising: Package, label, price, and display pizzas properly for retail sale, ensuring shelves and hot or refrigerated displays remain stocked.Freshness and Quality Control: Monitor product quality, freshness, and holding times. Remove products that do not meet company standards.Food Safety: Follow proper food handling, temperature control, sanitation, and food storage procedures in accordance with company policies and applicable food safety regulations.Inventory Management: Monitor ingredient supplies, rotate products using FIFO (First In, First Out), assist with inventory counts, and notify management when supplies need replenishment.Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain clean and sanitary workstations, ovens, preparation tables, utensils, equipment, refrigerators, and storage areas.Customer Service: Answer customer questions, provide product information, and assist with special requests in a friendly and professional manner.Waste Control: Minimize food waste by preparing appropriate quantities, monitoring product movement, and following established production and freshness guidelines.Department Maintenance: Keep pizza displays, counters, and work areas organized, properly stocked, and visually appealing throughout the shift.Teamwork: Coordinate with deli, prepared foods, and grocery department employees to support daily production goals and store operations.Compliance: Follow company policies, food safety procedures, workplace safety guidelines, and all applicable sanitation requirements.Reporting StructureReports to: Prepared Foods Manager, Deli Manager, or Store Manager.Works with: Deli associates, prepared foods employees, grocery staff, and store management.QualificationsPrevious food preparation, pizza-making, restaurant, deli, or grocery store experience preferred.Knowledge of basic food preparation and safe food handling practices.Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and production instructions.Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.Good organizational, communication, and customer service skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, as needed.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods.Ability to lift and carry ingredient containers, supplies, and product boxes within established safety limits.Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive food preparation tasks.Ability to work safely around ovens, hot equipment, and refrigerated storage areas.
