Job summary

Uncle G's Marketplace in New York seeks a Pizza Maker to supervise and train staff, prepare dough and toppings, and ensure consistent quality in our gourmet pizza department.

You will monitor ovens and cooking times, manage inventory, uphold sanitation, and provide friendly service to customers. The role requires 3–5 years of pizza-making experience and a strong knowledge of food safety standards. We offer medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and lunch discounts.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• 3-5 years of experience making pizza in a fast paced pizzeria or restaurant setting
• A food handler’s license is preferred
• Proven food preparation and food handling experience
• Ability to follow standardized recipes
• Customer service oriented and courteous
• Basic knowledge of baking techniques and bread making process
• Attention to detail
• Knowledge of sanitation principles and food preparation
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
• English language proficiency (read/write/speak)
• Knowledge of NYS, local and federal food handling laws

Responsibilities

• Prepare pizza dough, sauces, and toppings such as tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, onions, and meats
• Monitor pizza oven temperatures and cooking times
• Prepare high-quality pizzas according to company recipes
• Monitor inventory and place orders for supplies as needed
• Clean workstations before pizza preparation
• Sterilize utensils and equipment before use
• Plate or package pizzas accordingly
• Manage food order slips and ensure timely completion for customers
• Dispose of expired or spoiled ingredients at end of shift
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job description

Come join the art of Pizza Making at our gourmet Pizza Department at Uncle G's Marketplace! The Pizza Maker will be responsible for supervising and training staff Pizza Makers. in addition, this new hire will be responsible for preparing pizza dough and cutting, grating, and slicing various ingredients to be used as our gourmet toppings. Each team member is responsible for ensuring that kitchen safety protocols are followed at all times.

Responsibilities

1. Preparing pizza dough, sauces, and various toppings, such as tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, onions, and meats
2. Monitoring the temperature of the pizza ovens as well as cooking times
3. Preparing high-quality pizzas according to company recipes
4. Monitoring inventory and placing orders for more supplies as needed
5. Cleaning workstations before pizza preparation
6. Ensuring that all utensils and cooking equipment are sterilized before each use
7. Plating or packaging pizzas accordingly
8. Managing all food order slips and ensuring that customers’ orders are completed in a timely manner
9. Disposing of expired or spoiled ingredients at the end of each shift
10. Other duties and functions as assigned

Requirements:

Working Conditions

1. Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
2. May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
3. Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
4. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
