Originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to serve over 2,500 youth annually across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of seven PreK-12 schools and community programs. Our mission focuses on rigorous academics, social-emotional learning, family and community engagement, and health and wellness to create lifelong learners.

We are seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead DREAM’s culinary program. The role involves overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, managing staff, creating menus, and supporting training. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to youth development and organizational values.

Responsibilities
  • Support and oversee the NSLP-compliant food service program, food safety, and quality standards.
  • Create menus, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with USDA and DOH regulations.
  • Manage kitchen staff, conduct performance reviews, and coordinate food service with schools.
  • Oversee meal service for special events and develop systems for school food operations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of professional cooking experience.
  • At least 3 years in kitchen supervision as a sous chef or manager.
  • Valid NYC DOH Food Protection Certificate or ability to obtain one.
  • Knowledge of USDA NSLP and CACFP standards preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish speakers preferred.
  • Strong leadership, food safety, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks as needed.
Working Details
  • Location: 1991 Second Avenue, NY.
  • Start date: July 1, 2025.

  • Salary range: $70,000 - $75,000, with performance increases.
