Job Overview :
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Kitchen Manager to oversee all aspects of kitchen operations. The Kitchen Manager will ensure smooth and efficient food preparation, presentation, and service while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and staff management. This role is vital to the success of the kitchen and requires a leader with a passion for quality food and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee Kitchen Operations: Manage daily kitchen activities to ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standard and in a timely manner.
- Food Preparation and Presentation: Supervise the preparation and presentation of all menu items to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to recipe specifications.
- Staff Management: Lead, train, and manage kitchen staff, ensuring high levels of performance, teamwork, and adherence to kitchen protocols. Assign duties and manage shifts to ensure the kitchen always operates efficiently.
- Stock Counting and Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, manage stock rotation, and order necessary supplies. Conduct regular stock counts and maintain accurate inventory records to ensure the kitchen is fully stocked.
- Adherence to Hygiene and Safety Protocols: Ensure all kitchen operations comply with food hygiene regulations and safety protocols, including proper food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness. Regularly monitor kitchen cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
- Cost Control and Budget Management: Assist with managing kitchen costs, including food and labor expenses, and help optimize resource utilization to meet budgetary goals. Minimize waste and ensure cost-effective use of ingredients.
- Quality Control: Oversee food quality control to ensure that dishes consistently meet the restaurant's standards for taste, presentation, and portion control.
- Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with the Front-of-House Manager and other team members to ensure seamless service and exceptional guest experience.
- Problem-Solving: Quickly address and resolve any issues related to kitchen operations, including equipment malfunctions, staffing challenges, or supply shortages.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
- Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager or in a similar culinary management role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse kitchen team.
- In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation techniques, and presentation standards.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
- Ability to manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain accurate stock records.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Desirable Skills :
- Culinary degree or equivalent qualifications.
