Position Summary
Cook menu items for Hilltop Ski Area food service. Ensure quality and proper presentation in a timely manner. Food orders are prepared and assembled quickly according to recipes and procedures to avoid waste. The line is always stocked, neat, clean, and safe.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Follow all standardized recipes and presentations
- Cook menu items on burners, grill fryers, ovens
- Sanitize work areas before, during, and at the end of the shift
- Ensure all equipment is clean
- Follow and complete the prep list each day
- Assist in dishwashing
- Prepare recipes and plate presentations, correctly setting up according to tickets for all fried items, chips, fries, and appetizers
- Follow pars accurately, and complete daily/weekly cleaning and maintenance of fryers etc.; adhere to hold time standards for all fried products
- Maintain complete knowledge of the kitchen’s food and beverage preparation
- Sell alcohol and food items
- Enter and complete customers’ orders on the computer system; accept different payment types and give change
- Interact with guests in a friendly and efficient manner; ensure guest satisfaction and exceed expectations
- Maintain specific side-work and ensure the cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant
- Stock and restock items on the line according to specifications
- Check IDs to verify legal age for alcohol service; refuse service politely to underage guests
- Observe guests after alcohol consumption, monitor drinks served, and seek manager assistance with disorderly customers as needed
- Report to work in a neat uniform; maintain grooming and hygiene standards
- Perform janitorial duties as assigned
- Perform other duties as directed
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Knowledge of standard industry practices in culinary services
- Previous short-order cooking experience (grill, fryer)
- Ability to work independently and in a team with minimal supervision
- Work well under pressure and prioritize tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to work extended hours, various shifts, holidays, and weekends
- Knowledge of proper food handling and health standards
- Current Municipality of Anchorage food handler’s card
- Current TAP certification
- Must be 21 or older
- Pass pre-employment background check
- Ability to communicate with team members and read orders on tickets
- Judgment skills for assessing food quality and quantity
- Basic math, reading, writing, and computer skills
- Multi-tasking ability
- Workplace safety knowledge
- Ability to suggestively sell food and beverages
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Standing for entire shift, frequent reaching, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to heat, smoke, and cleaning chemicals. Frequent hand use, communication, and reading orders. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
