Job Description

The Cook position is responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of foods, completion of production sheets, and other associated food service activities for an Assisted Living kitchen.

Responsibilities

1. Performs all main line food production duties.
2. Prepares food as indicated by par level sheets and in accordance with Nutritional Services and Health Department standards.
3. Reviews daily needs with supervisors, completes production sheets, and verifies supply needs and availability.
4. Ensures quality control in food production and maintains sanitation of assigned areas.
5. Assists in training food service personnel.
6. Arranges for food service workers to complete smaller item preparations.
7. Oversees food serving lines and coffee bars, ensuring proper stocking of food items.
8. Instructs others on proper FIFO rotation procedures for all food-related items.
9. Follows all Food Safety Standards (HACCP).
10. Completes temperature and sanitation logs for freezers, coolers, and warming stations.
11. Supports an active safety program.
12. May assist other food service personnel as needed.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
14. This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Alaska Food Handlers Card or ServSafe certification within 30 days of hire.
• At least one (1) year of general food service experience.
• Must provide immunization records for TB or be willing to get vaccinated.
• Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English.

Location: Pioneer Home, an industrial kitchen within an assisted living setting.

Additional: Must provide proof of TB immunization or be willing to be vaccinated.
