Job summary

WaTiki at Courtyard by Marriott Box Elder is seeking an entry-level Cook to join a dynamic hospitality team in Box Elder, SD. You will help stock, prep, cook, and plate dishes, working closely with servers to ensure timely, high-quality meals during day shifts.

2+ years' kitchen experience and a high school diploma are preferred; ServeSafe certification is a plus. The role offers benefits including Hotel discounts, daily pay options, and career growth opportunities within LIV Hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Assist with stocking and setting up kitchen stations.
• Prepare food, clean and cut ingredients, cook dishes.
• Plate prepared foods according to senior chef's guidance.
• Coordinate with servers to meet orders on time.
• Wash and clean the kitchen and utensils; store equipment after shifts.
• Ensure kitchen operations and hygiene meet food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations
• Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers and snacks
• Plating prepared foods based on senior chef’s guidance
• Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
• Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts
• Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED required
• 2+ years' experience as a Cook in the restaurant industry
• Able to read and follow standardized recipes
• Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
• Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere
• ServeSafe Certification preferred

Skills

• Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Cooks to prepare meals during our dining hours
• Maintain accurate food inventories
• Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
• Rotate stock items as per established procedures
• Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts
• Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift
