Momentum WORK, Inc. Santa Barbara – Mo’s To-Go Catering Kitchen is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support on-the-job training for program participants, prep ingredients, and help power the catering business in a dynamic, inclusive environment.

You will wash, peel, and prep, use mixers and knives, check inventory, rotate stock, and maintain cleanliness. Strong communication and teamwork are essential; CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Previous kitchen experience.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and clearly communicate in English with respect to business related tasks.
• Able to work well and lead inside of a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 100 lbs.
• Experience working in a guest service-oriented Food & Beverage establishment preferred.
• Must be skilled in the preparation of vegetables, meats, and fish.
• Self-motivated and self-starter, able to work alone and within a team, and remain focused and calm.
• Compassion and respect for persons with disabilities. CPR/First Aid certification (Training included)

• Demonstrates professionalism and the ability to communicate effectively with people served, job coaches, third-party vendors, and customers.
• Washing, peeling, and preparing food ingredients.
• Using equipment such as mixers, special knives, and cutters
• Reviewing kitchen inventory and determining what items are needed
• Unloading fresh supplies and organizing the stockroom
• Checking sell‑by dates and rotating food stock
• Cleaning kitchen appliances, ovens, dishes, and pans
• Observing cooking times and correct temperatures
• Assumes other duties, responsibilities and special projects as needed

• Ability to ensure security of kitchen access, and storage of products and equipment properly.
• Able to bend at waist, back, knees, with very limited or no limitations.
• Experience working in a guest service-oriented Food & Beverage establishment preferred.
• Must be skilled in the preparation of vegetables, meats, and fish.
• Self‑motivated and self‑starter, able to work alone and within a team, and remain focused and calm.
• Compassion and respect for persons with disabilities. Valid certification in CPR/First Aid (Training included)
