Job summary

Hudson Table is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support lead chefs during live chef competitions and private events in a fast-paced, guest-facing kitchen environment. You will assist with hands-on cooking classes, set mise en place, and help deliver top-notch hospitality to create a memorable guest experience.

The role involves helping prepare multi-course menus for private catered events, public dinners, and brunches, with opportunities to compete in chef competitions for prize money.

Qualifications

• Prior line cook experience required.
• Weekend and evening availability.
• Friendly, professional demeanor with strong communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver a good guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate ability to prepare foods with efficiency and technique for guests.
• Set up the kitchen with proper equipment for hands-on classes and events and ensure equipment is clean and functional.
• Prepare mise en place for workstations, including measuring, washing, and prepping ingredients and equipment.
• Review recipes, lesson plans, and pull sheets to ensure ingredients and equipment are ready and staff are prepared to greet customers.
• Assist Chef Instructor and guests with food items and equipment during classes.
• Answer questions from students and defer to the chef instructor as needed.
• Keep kitchen and prep areas clean; remove dirty dishes and used equipment as classes progress, and ensure equipment is returned to storage.
• Return clean dishes, tools and equipment to designated storage areas in the classroom.
• Break down and clean kitchen areas, ensuring all pots, pans, dishes, silverware and glasses are cleaned and stored.
• Assist with preparation of a multi-course catered event or public dinner.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef Instructors.
