Description

SUMMARY: The person in this position is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the nutrition program at EmBe Avera Childcare Centers, including food preparation, serving, ordering, maintaining supplies, delivering food to off-sites and classrooms, and cleanup. This is a summer (part-time) staff position. Ensure that EmBe's brand, mission, vision, and values are reflected in all interactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist with food preparation.
• Start breakfast, prepare carts, and help guide children to the dining area during meals.
• Assist in serving breakfast and transporting carts to appropriate rooms.
• Begin daily lunch preparations.
• Assist with dishes throughout the day and support children and teachers in the dining room.
• Maintain proper temperatures for fridges and freezers.
• Assist with lunch service and prepare allergy-friendly foods.
• Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
• Participate in food service training.
• Document meals and daily cleaning activities.
• Keep allergy documentation up to date for children with allergies.
• Assist with ordering and maintaining supplies.
• Deliver meals as needed.
• Serve meals and assist with kitchen cleanup.
• Model appropriate language and behavior to teach children.
• Treat all children with dignity and respect.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Food service training and/or work experience.
• Basic housekeeping skills.
• Flexibility in work assignments and hours.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
• No substantiated history of child abuse or neglect.
• No recent felony convictions within the past five years.
• Absence of a name on the sex offender registry.
