Job summary

Durham Academy, under the National Association of Independent Schools in Durham, North Carolina, is seeking a committed and passionate Kindergarten teacher for a permanent full-time role starting on November 12, 2026. Durham Academy is accepting applications for a permanent full-time Kindergarten teacher to beginNovember 12, 2026.The Preschool serves approximately 100 students in grades Pre-K and Kindergarten. Our Preschool classrooms have 18 students with a lead classroom teacher and a teaching assistant.This position reports to the Preschool Director.

Responsibilities
  • Setting learning goals and planning developmentally appropriate and engaging lessons
  • Preparing instructional materials
  • Leading whole and small group instruction and providing intervention, as needed
  • Assessing student performance and growth
  • Maintaining communication with families
  • Carrying out required supervisory duties
  • Performing other duties as requested by the division director
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree (preferably in education)
  • At least three years of teaching experience in an early childhood classroom
  • Experience working with children in an educational environment
  • A demonstrated commitment to professional growth, collaboration and collegiality
  • A passion and love for meeting the social and academic needs of Preschool students
