Position: Kindergarten Teacher

St. Michael’s Prep seeks a dynamic, experienced, collaborative, and creative Lower School Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Candidates should love children at all developmental stages, work well in teams, communicate effectively, and be motivated lifelong learners. We focus on teaching the whole child, emphasizing social, emotional, and academic growth in a supportive environment. This is a full-time, 10-month position beginning in August 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Curricular and Teaching

• Apply innovative and engaging teaching practices across subjects: language arts, math, social studies, and science.
• Set learning goals within a child-centered curriculum.
• Use authentic, data-driven assessments to guide instruction.
• Differentiating instruction for diverse learners.
• Apply current theories in education and child development, including the Science of Reading and structured literacy.
• Utilize the classroom environment as a teaching tool.
• Integrate technology meaningfully into lessons.
• Focus on social, emotional, and character development, preferably with Responsive Classroom experience.

Communication and Collaboration

• Work effectively with colleagues in curriculum development and planning.
• Partner with grade-level teams for events and student support strategies.
• Maintain professional, detailed, and timely communication with parents and staff.
• Document student progress and communicate social-emotional development.
• Lead parent/teacher conferences and write report cards.
• Be receptive to feedback and professional growth opportunities.
