Job summary

DeKalb County School District is seeking a Title I Kindergarten Paraprofessional to support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, implementing high academic expectations, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities include assisting with health-related care, providing targeted instruction, and supporting data collection and progress monitoring under a certified special education teacher.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Associate degree or higher from a PSC-approved college.
• Minimum of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours completed with GPA 2.0+ from PSC-approved college.

Responsibilities

• Assists students with physical and personal care needs as outlined in IEP, under supervision of a certified teacher.
• Provides health-related care and non-medical assistance aligning with IEP and district/state guidelines.
• Assists students with health care procedures and medications as needed for daily care.
• Provides small group and/or individualized instruction per lesson plans.
• Monitors students before/after school and during non-instructional periods.
• Supports teachers with classroom management to maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Assists with assessment and recordkeeping of student performance.
• Develops and organizes instructional materials for use in instruction.
• Delivers direct instructional support to students under supervision of a special education teacher.
• Reinforces academic content in various settings and implements accommodations per IEPs.
• Supports progress monitoring and data collection under supervision.
