Job summary

Washington County Public Schools at Jonathan Hager Elementary School seeks a Paraprofessional Title I Kindergarten – Grant Funded. The position starts at $19.26 per hour with potential earnings between $19.26 and $34.84 per hour on the ESP Salary Scale, with additional steps for licensure or teaching experience.

The role is 7 hours per day, 10 months per year, reporting to the Building Administrator. Primary duties include supporting students, assisting teachers, and maintaining a positive

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Meets Certification and Licensure Requirements (A.A. degree, 48 credits, or Paraprofessional Assessment Test).
• Two (2) years’ experience in school setting or working with children or combination of education and experience totaling two years.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce skills.
• Assist teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing skills and instruction.
• Assist with classroom organization and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Operate and assist with classroom equipment.
• Assist with supervision and management of students during instructional activities.
• Follow through to carry out individual programs designed by the teacher.
• Participate in team planning functions as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional demeanor with stakeholders.
