Job summary

The Sylvania Kindergarten Paraeducator position at Daisy Ingraham Elementary School supports the classroom teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young learners. You will offer instructional and classroom assistance while promoting student independence and a positive, inclusive culture.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, literacy and math support, behavior reinforcement, supervision, and preparation of materials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or coursework in education preferred (Passing score on ParaPro test is also required).
• Experience working with young children in educational or childcare settings preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with children.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, flexible, and organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school team.

Responsibilities

• Support the classroom teacher in implementing daily instructional activities and routines.
• Provide individual and small-group instructional support in literacy, mathematics, and other content areas.
• Reinforce classroom expectations and assist with positive behavior supports.
• Build positive, caring relationships with students and promote independence.
• Assist with organization, preparation of instructional materials, and learning centers.
• Supervise students during activities, transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other duties.
• Support students with personal care needs as appropriate.
• Monitor student engagement and communicate observations to the teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students and school matters.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, interventionists, administrators, and support staff.
• Participate in professional learning opportunities and staff meetings.
