Job summary

Position Summary

The Kindergarten Paraeducator works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of young learners. The paraeducator provides instructional and classroom support while fostering student independence and maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom culture.

Essential Responsibilities

• Support the classroom teacher in implementing daily instructional activities and routines.


• Provide individual and small-group instructional support, under the direction of the classroom teacher, to reinforce previously taught skills in literacy, mathematics, and other content areas.


• Reinforce classroom expectations and assist with positive behavior supports.


• Build positive, caring relationships with students while promoting independence, confidence, and self-regulation.


• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and learning centers.


• Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned duties.


• Support students with personal care needs as appropriate, including dressing for outdoor activities, snack, and bathroom routines when necessary.


• Monitor student engagement and communicate observations to the classroom teacher.


• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.


• Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, specialists, interventionists, administrators, and support staff.


• Participate in professional learning opportunities and staff meetings as assigned.


• Perform other delegated responsibilities as assigned by the classroom teacher or building principal.

Qualifications
