Job summary

Chesapeake Science Point Elementary in Hanover, Maryland seeks a Teacher Assistant: Kindergarten to support instructional staff and work directly with students in small groups and one-on-one.

You will assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating lessons, prep instructional materials, and help manage learning stations and activities under supervision. This role requires collaboration with teachers and may include supervision duties during meals and field trips.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
• To work in a Title I-funded school, 48 college credit hours or a paraprofessional assessment issued by ETS or NES required.
• Previous training and/or experience in an educational/instructional environment preferred.
• Willingness to learn and implement instructional methods, strategies, and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Works directly with the students individually or in small groups to reinforce subjects initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assists teachers in planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional lessons, methods, strategies and materials to meet the individual needs of students.
• Organizes materials for each group/student and sets up learning stations and activity centers.
• Supervises students while working and assists students having difficulty.
• Prepares instructional materials and assists with bulletin boards, exhibits and displays.
• Observes and gathers assessment data on students and discusses progress with staff.
• May supervise lunch duties, playground and bus duties as directed.
• Assists in the administration of tests and records data.
