Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
• To work in a Title I-funded school, 48 college credit hours or a passing score on a paraprofessional assessment issued by ETS or NES required.
• Previous training and/or experience in an educational/instructional environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with students individually or in small groups to reinforce subjects initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assist teachers in planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional lessons, methods, strategies and materials to meet the individual needs of students.
• Organizes materials for each group/student; sets up learning stations and supports, supervises students, and assists those with difficulties.
• Leads and/or facilitates group discussions and independent activities.
• Prepares instructional materials (posters, charts, displays) and assists with classroom displays.
• Observes and records student progress and shares observations with instructional staff.
• May supervise lunch, playground, and bus duties as directed.
• Assists in testing/assessment administration and records data in appropriate records.
• Performs clerical tasks and helps maintain attendance and student folders/records.
• Supports teachers with special projects and daily lesson plans.
