Job summary

Baltimore County Public Schools is seeking a Kindergarten Assistant to support classroom operations under the direction of the classroom teacher. You will assist with routines, monitor students in the halls, help with materials, and reinforce safety and behavioral expectations during the day.

The role emphasizes non-instructional support, including lunch counts, attendance checks, and helping students with self-care, transitions, and small-group activities to create a safe, orderly learning

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience with early childhood population preferred.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment; enforce safety rules and greet students.
Monitor students during bathroom breaks; assist with toileting and self-care.
Assist the kindergarten teacher with administrative tasks such as lunch counts and attendance.
Maintain discipline and encourage appropriate behavior in halls, cafeterias, and assembly areas.
Provide reinforcement and prompts to keep students on task and redirect when needed.
Assist with distributing materials, arranging centers, and sit with students during activities.
