Responsibilities

• Plans comprehensive, educational courses of study approved by the district and develop lesson plans and materials.
• Teaches students to motivate academic success and develops their intellectual, emotional, and social skills.
• Provides a balanced program of instruction, activities, and work time to adapt the curriculum to diverse learning styles.
• Creates lesson plans recognizing students’ cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds.
• Guides students toward curriculum goals and sets clear lesson objectives.
• Establishes rules and maintains a productive classroom environment.
• Collaborates with other teachers to evaluate students’ needs and adjust lessons.
• Accommodates students with IEPs and 504 plans within the district curriculum.
• Communicates with parents about progress and plans for improvement.
• Updates attendance and grades in the management system.
• Assesses student progress with tests and assignments and prepares progress reports.
• Administers state standardized tests following policy and training.
• Provides leadership to classroom staff and assigns duties.
• Organizes field trips and other educational activities to support curriculum.
• Monitors use of computers and district equipment.
• Maintains documentation for reports and compliance.
• Is available to students and parents outside instructional hours when needed.
• Notifies appropriate personnel about child safety concerns as required by law.
• Maintains familiarity with safety plans and supports a safe school environment.
• Participates in staff meetings and professional development as required.
• Performs other duties as needed.
