Responsibilities

• Assist students during classroom instruction, small groups, centers, and independent work.
• Reinforce skills and strategies taught by the classroom teacher.
• Provide additional prompting, modeling, and practice for students who need support.
• Help students learn classroom routines, procedures, and expectations.
• Support students with transitions throughout the school day.
• Encourage students to complete tasks and solve age-appropriate problems independently.
• Provide calm, consistent support when students are frustrated or upset.
• Reinforce positive behavior and recognize students for meeting expectations.
• Work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support daily instruction and routines.
• Prepare instructional materials, organize supplies, and assist with activities.
• Supervise students during assigned portions of the day and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate student needs, concerns, successes, or behavior patterns to the classroom teacher.
