Qualifications

• Successful completion of student teaching requirements and coursework to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Teachers must possess at least one of the Illinois State Board of Education licenses: Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).
• Knowledge of state certification requirements, teaching principles, classroom and behavior management; ability to modify instruction and work with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan instruction: create lesson plans and maintain records of pupil progress.
• Apply instructional methods using current teaching techniques and materials.
• Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum content and standards.
• Promote student attendance and anti-vandalism programs.
• Establish classroom rules aligned with CPS discipline code.
• Maintain attendance records and seating charts.
• Encourage student self-discipline and positive self-concept.
• Communicate with parents about student progress and conduct.
• Participate in in-service meetings and staff development.
