Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Class Size Teacher to address oversized classrooms in Priority Schools under JCSAC. Under the school principal, you will deliver instruction, monitor progress, maintain records, and uphold CPS disciplinary policies.

Responsibilities include lesson planning, applying diverse teaching methods, engaging families, and coordinating with staff. Education requires completion of student teaching and ISBE teaching certification; IL licenses (PEL/ELS) are accepted.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include completion of student teaching and teaching certificate(s) by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• License requirements include a valid Illinois teaching license: PEL or ELS or equivalent per ISBE.
• Knowledge, skills and abilities include subject knowledge, classroom management, effective instruction, and collaboration with families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional activities with written lesson plans and progress tracking.
• Apply instructional methods and adapt materials to students’ needs; create engaging learning environments.
• Maintain attendance records and manage classroom behavior as per CPS policies.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and concerns.
• Participate in staff meetings and school initiatives; may support field trips and extra-curriculars.
