Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Class Size Teacher to address oversized classrooms in Priority Schools. Under the principal’s supervision, you will instruct, monitor progress, and maintain discipline for all pupils in assigned classes.

You will plan lessons, apply effective teaching methods, track attendance, communicate with families, and participate in ongoing professional development to support academic progress and equity within CPS.

Qualifications

• Education requirements: Successful completion of student teaching and coursework to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate issued by ISBE.
• License requirements: PEL or ELS license issued by ISBE.
• Knowledge/Abilities: knowledge of standards, teaching methods, and classroom management; ability to adapt instruction.
• Ability to work with students, parents, staff, and community to provide a quality educational program.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans aligned with instructional objectives and maintain records of pupil progress.
• Implement instructional methods using available materials and introduce new teaching techniques.
• Establish and enforce classroom rules, attendance and seating charts.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and conduct.
• Participate in in-service and staff meetings to improve instruction.
