Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking an elementary classroom teacher to educate first grade in the morning and kindergarten in the afternoon. The role involves planning lessons, implementing district standards, and fostering an engaging learning environment while supporting a diverse student body.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.
• Experience in teaching a culturally, racially and economically diverse student population is preferred.
• Ability to design and implement lesson plans and manage classrooms effectively.

Responsibilities

• Design instructional programs and lesson plans aligned with state/district standards.
• Use appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet student needs.
• Establish classroom policies and supervise student behavior and conduct.
• Counsel, guide, and evaluate students; communicate with parents/guardians as appropriate.
• Set classroom goals and monitor progress; prepare progress reports for parents/guardians.
• Collect and interpret data; provide reports for administrative purposes.
• Direct activities of assigned non-certificated staff where applicable.
• Attend required staff meetings and professional development activities.
