Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Kilns/Lift Operator at our Lumber facility in Albany, GA. The standard schedule is a 2/2/3 rotation with a .50 shift premium for overnight hours. The role involves kiln control, dryer operation, and multi-ton forklift handling in an outdoor climate.

You will be responsible for safety, troubleshooting, and maintaining product quality. Qualified candidates have at least six months in manufacturing and forklift operations, plus related technical training.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months of experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, farming, warehouse, or military environments.
• Minimum six months of experience operating a forklift, backhoe, front end loader, or skid steer.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and react to kiln alarm systems; control process variables (tank levels, temperatures, moisture, etc.).
• Safely operate burners and kilns from a computer to dry product.
• Troubleshoot complex machine center issues and make critical decisions on burner operations.
• Perform preventive maintenance and address issues with precision and accuracy.
• Possibly work additional days or stay late on maintenance days with short notice.
• Transport, store, and feed in-process lumber with multi-ton forklift; ensure clean, organized work area.
