Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a Kids Play Team Member to provide a safe, engaging space for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. You will lead age-appropriate activities supporting social, physical, spiritual, and cognitive development, meeting each child where they are and fostering a loving learning environment.

You will collaborate with a team, engage families, and model the YMCA values while ensuring supervision, hygiene, and safety. This is a part-time, on-site role with YMCA benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• Preferred bilingual Spanish/English.
• Experience in childcare is advantageous.
• Experience with children aged 8 weeks to 12 years.
• Current First Aid, CPR/AED, and Emergency Oxygen certifications preferred.
• Ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
• Growth mindset and teamwork orientation.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, hands-on activities encouraging exploration and self-expression.
• Foster teamwork through group games and collaborative projects.
• Create a safe, welcoming environment supporting emotional, social, and physical development.
• Build positive relationships with children and families and greet them warmly.
• Interact with children at their level, including floor time to play and connect.
• Ensure constant supervision and attend to health and safety needs.
• Maintain clean, organized childcare spaces throughout shifts.
• Keep parents informed about their child's day and activities.
• Attend staff meetings and follow program safety standards.
• Promote and model the YMCA's mission, values, and community impact.
• Serve as an ambassador of the Y's culture in every interaction.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
