Job summary

Michaels in Joliet, IL is seeking an events and customer service oriented team member to plan and run children’s parties and in-store crafting events. You will assist guests, guide them to products, and ensure a fast, friendly checkout experience while supporting store operations and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Retail and/or customer service experience required.
• Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
• Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Energetic and enthusiastic personality.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate events at Michaels store, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes.
• Engage with clients of all ages, creating a fun and creative environment.
• Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting and activities.
• Facilitate party add-ons and communicate events with clients and store team.
• Handle emails, calls, and paperwork; adjust plans based on feedback.
• Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions; ensure fast checkout.
• Educate on Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards; enroll customers.
• Assist with BOPIS/SFS, stock, planograms, and store cleanliness and safety.
• Participate in truck unload, stocking, SISO, AD sets; adhere to SOPs and policies.
