Job summary

The Red Bank YMCA is hiring a Kids Club Lead Associate to supervise the Kids Club program and deliver quality childcare for members’ children in Red Bank, NJ. Under the supervision of the Youth and Family Program Coordinator, this role leads daily activities, ensures safety, and interacts with children and guardians to provide a supportive, enriching environment.

• Minimum of 18 years of age.

• Must possess oral and written communication skills for interactions with adults and children.
• Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to delegate appropriate responsibilities to staff.
• First Aid, CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire date.
• YMCA Jersey Shore New Team Member Orientation.
• YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Online Training.

This position is for the Kids Club Supervsior at the Red Bank YMCA. Under the direct supervision of the Youth and Family Program Coordinator, the Kids Club Lead Associate for the Red Bank YMCA is responsible for quality childcare and babysitting. The Associate has a complete knowledge of the YMCA mission, character counts, and programs which include policies, rates, programs and the facility. The Kids Club Lead Associate implements the program activities and guides the development of the children, ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy environment. In the absence of the Youth and Family Program Coordinator, the Kids Club Lead Associate assumes a leadership role. The Kids Club Lead Associate must interact with adults and the children in a harmonious manner.

• Must always be on time and ready for your scheduled shift, which includes but is not limited to adhering to the established branch and department dress code.
• Demonstrate YMCA core character values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring in all interactions with employees, members, staff and others; commit to ongoing professional development.
• Provide exceptional care for children during the day-to-day operation of the Kids Club room. Interact with children during activities.
• Help to implement the activities scheduled in an appropriate manner, meeting the needs of the children physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.
• Provide careful, attentive care and is alert at all times.
• Use a diverse selection of materials, toys and experiences for all participants.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the Kids Club room and equipment, performing all required shift duties as specified by supervisor.
• Exercise sound judgment in relationship to member safety & injuries. Follow all emergency procedures
• In the absence of the Youth & Family Program Coordinator, assumes leadership role overseeing activities in Kids Club.
• Visually inspect work area and equipment for safety and risk, report to supervisor in writing any problems. Responsible for filling out accident/incident reports and getting these reports to the director.
• Additionally, immediately report any unsafe or suspicious activity directly to Youth and Family Program Coordinator or Director on Duty.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 18 years of age

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Child Care facility or as a babysitter
• The individual should have a broad understanding of childcare policies
• The individual must possess and demonstrate the ability to engage in all the activities associated with the daily routines of the program’s children, including but not limited to: interacting with children at floor level, lifting children and equipment, participating in activities such as reading
• Must possess oral and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both adult and children
• Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills
• The incumbent must be able to delegate appropriate responsibilities to the staff in order to accomplish the necessary duties
• First Aid, CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire date
