Job summary

Second Harvest of South Georgia is seeking a Kids Café Prep Cook / Driver in Thomasville, GA to prepare and distribute food service items for feeding sites and maintain sanitary kitchen operations.

You will help manage inventories, assist the Kitchen Manager, and participate in catering services, while delivering reliable team support and positive community relations. Prior food service experience and ServSafe certification are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Prior job-related experience in food preparation, serving and basic kitchen activities.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Food Handler Permit through SERVSAFE® or ability to obtain within first sixty days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Must enjoy cooking and working for and with children and youth.
• Assists the preparation of meals in sufficient quantity and quality for all students for CACFP and other government guidelines.
• Assists with estimates of food preparation amounts for meeting projected meal requirements and minimizing waste.
• Ability to manage food in a safe and efficient manner.
• Serve food according to the type of service used.
• Assist Kitchen Manager to oversee in-depth cleaning tasks including kitchen store areas and waste areas.
• Assist Kitchen Manager to maintain and care for applicable equipment and supplies.
• Participate and help with special function catering and any other catering services undertaken by the kitchen and catering division.
• Works with the Director of Nutrition to ensure food goods and supplies are available for inventory to complete jobs efficiently.
• Provide back-up support when purchasing, obtaining, and transporting food products.
• Maintains positive relations with team and agency members, staff and community.
• Assists with service tracking paperwork and reports as needed.
• All SHSG employees are Mandated Reporters and must report suspected Child Abuse or Neglect.
