Description

At Direct Federal Credit Union, technology plays a critical role in delivering remarkable service to our members and employees. We're looking for an experienced Core Systems Administrator to be the technical expert behind our core banking platform, KeyStone, and the many systems that connect to it.

Reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology, you'll be responsible for administering, supporting, and continuously improving our core banking environment. You'll partner with colleagues across the organization, work closely with vendors, solve complex technical challenges, support key business initiatives, and ensure our systems remain secure, reliable, and ready for whatever comes next.

As our Core Systems Administrator, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day administration and long-term success of our KeyStone core banking platform and its connected technologies. Your work will span technical administration, business process support, vendor management, reporting, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities will include:

Core System Administration
  • Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for KeyStone across production, test, training, and validation environments.
  • Configure, maintain, support, and document KeyStone and the systems, vendors, workflows, and data exchanges that connect to or depend on it.
  • Understand business workflows and translate operational needs into system configurations, testing plans, reports, documentation, and vendor requests.
  • Administer user access, role-based security, and periodic access reviews in accordance with regulatory and audit requirements.
System Enhancements & Change Management
  • Coordinate system upgrades, releases, patches, maintenance windows, configuration changes, interfaces, and batch processes.
  • Review vendor release notes, evaluate business impact, coordinate user acceptance testing, validate results, and communicate changes to stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute testing plans for new functionality, integrations, reports, automation, scripts, and system enhancements before they are released.
Troubleshooting & Operational Support
  • Troubleshoot application issues, integrations, automated processes, batch jobs, data imports and exports, interface errors, and user access concerns.
  • Manage the core systems helpdesk queue from intake through resolution, ensuring timely communication, documentation, prioritization, and follow-up.
  • Partner with hosted service providers and vendors to resolve issues, coordinate technical work, and manage support cases.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain thorough documentation for system configurations, operational procedures, integrations, recurring processes, vendor contacts, testing activities, and known issues.
  • Support audits, regulatory reviews, and risk management activities by providing documentation, validating controls, assisting with remediation efforts, and ensuring audit readiness.
  • Help protect member information through strong security practices, effective change management, and thoughtful system administration.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop SQL query and reporting skills to support operational reporting, troubleshooting, data validation, automation, and business intelligence needs.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and data analysis to business partners.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, strengthen controls, reduce manual effort, and enhance the employee and member experience.
  • Stay current on KeyStone functionality, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
Collaboration
  • Train and support employees on KeyStone functionality and business processes.
  • Partner with department leaders to improve workflows, solve operational challenges, and implement technology enhancements.
  • Support broader IT initiatives involving core systems, reporting, integrations, workflow automation, and other strategic technology projects.
  • Remain flexible and contribute across the IT team as business needs evolve.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in an Information Technology, application administration, banking operations technology, hosted application, vendor-managed system, or core systems support environment.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of KeyStone is required, including experience supporting configuration, user access, operational workflows, reporting, integrations, release‑note review, testing, vendor coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Experience working within a regulated financial institution or similarly controlled environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot integrations, automated processes, application issues, data imports and exports, and vendor‑managed systems.
  • Ability and willingness to develop SQL query and reporting expertise to support automation, troubleshooting, data validation, operational reporting, ad hoc analysis, and business intelligence needs. Training, tools, and other resources may be provided.
  • Strong communication, relationship‑building, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to document procedures, coordinate testing, train end users, and successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, organization, and customer‑service focus.
Work Environment:

This is a primarily remote position that operates in a professional office environment.
